July 25, 2023  •  2 min read

Since the launch of Backbone One, our mission has always been to bring the excitement and connection of gaming to everyone. We’re happy to announce we’re one step closer to achieving that goal.

Backbone One for Android will be available for purchase on November 16th from and select online retailers. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to bring Android players together with a magical and effortless gaming experience. Players on Backbone One for Android will also receive early access to the Backbone App, welcoming them to a suite of features. Record and share gameplay, party up with friends, and launch your favorite games all from one place. Connect the controller to your Android phone, press the Backbone Button to open the app, and instantly launch your favorite Xbox games anywhere, directly from the Backbone App. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming features arriving alongside the full launch of Backbone+ for Android.

We’re thankful for the unprecedented pre-order interest we have received from everyone so far. We’re pleased to confirm that we’re on track to fulfill our promise to ship all pre-orders placed before 11/01 by the end of November, with all new orders arriving before Christmas. We’ll continue to push shipping updates to for customers curious about when their orders will arrive.

We have some more exciting news to share with you. We’re excited to confirm that Call of Duty: Mobile features full support for Backbone One for Android. Together with connectivity and performance breakthroughs, Backbone One creates an incredibly low-latency Call of Duty experience requiring no charging at all, so you can play comfortably anywhere you like.

We’ve received a number of questions regarding whether a wired connection will be supported by PS Remote Play. Unfortunately, this is not the case as of now, but please stay tuned for more information early next year. We know that this is a beloved addition to many of our player’s libraries. We hope in the meantime, players can enjoy the hundreds of other games available from both the Google Play Store and cloud gaming and remote play services offered by Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, GeForce Now, Steam Link, and more. Find out all the ways you can play by checking out our game and platform discovery pages.

We greatly appreciate the patience of everyone as we worked to create the best Android experience possible. We’re excited to finally get it into your hands. If you're curious about device compatibility, please check out our guide here for more information.
